A beautiful seasonal walk through carpets of bluebells outside Clanfield enroute to the South Downs Way. While Clanfield has experienced much growth over the last decade or more, the local Green Lanes and Thieves Lane provide an insight into the village’s sleepier past.
The route is not too challenging with generally fairly easy slopes and good conditions underfoot. For lunch, you have the choice of your own picnic or a options from Sustainability Centre’s Beech Cafe menu.
After lunch, the return leg is downhill with great views across to the Isle of Wight, finishing in Clanfield seeing some of the original and listed buildings.
The starting point for this walk can be reached by car or public transport. The nr 37 bus from Petersfield arrives at 9:50 stopping at Peel Park, by request.

The Country Walking Group is part of Petersfield’s vibrant U3A. Intended for those who like countryside walks of about 8 miles, the group’s outings usually incorporate a pub or cafe. Group leader, Roger Mullenger, will be guiding the festival walks. Roger has walked the Pyrenean High Route long distance path, is a volunteer walk leader for HF walking holidays and has also helped put together a book of walks around Liss.
