Walk 28 - Sunday Social Stroll Around Our Trees

  • DATE: Sunday 23 July 2023

  • TIME: 14.00

  • START LOCATION: Petersfield Museum, St Peter’s Street

  • DISTANCE: 1-2 miles

  • DURATION: 1 hour 30 mins

Would you like to fill that quiet downtime between 2 pm & 3 pm on a Sunday afternoon? Need encouragement to go out for a walk? Not fit but enjoy walking and would love some company along the way? Well, this gentle walk and talk around town with the Social Strollers will help you get started and provide a cuppa at the end.

No walking boots needed! Join volunteers from Hills To Harbour Community Rail Partnership for a fascinating walk focusing on the town’s past. The Petersfield Area Historical Society are running a 2-week long ‘Big Dig’ archaeological exploration of some key sites. Our walk will visit two of the accessible sites in the Spain and the Avenue. We should be able to view what finds have emerged and hopefully hear from some of the experts about what has been learned from their work

The walk will finish at the Hub by the station, where refreshments await.

The walk is part of a series of social strolls that are usually held on the second Sunday each month.

The Social Strollers are a wellness walking group set up by the Hills to Harbour Community Rail Partnership. The group is for people who are not hikers but enjoy going out for a stroll in the fresh air with company on a Sunday afternoon. HHCRP works with the local community to promote the use of sustainable travel. They bring the railway to the community and the community to the railway. On their website and at their tourist hub at Petersfield Railway station they have a number of walks and cycle rides that can all be enjoyed using public transport.
