Walk 41 - Liss Railway Family Amble

  • DATE: Friday 4 August 2023

  • TIME: 11.00am

  • START LOCATION: Longmoor Ranges Car Park on Forest Road, GU33 7RA (free)

  • WHAT3WORDS: ///October.salaried.agreement

  • DISTANCE: Approx 3km total (1.6km each way)

  • DURATION: 2 hours (30 mins walking each way)

Join The Ambling Path family for a very easy walk along an old military railway line to Liss. The path crosses over the River Rother using a series of pretty wooden bridges before arriving at a quiet grassy glade where there is a small play area beside the river. Bring a picnic, a blanket, balls, frisbees etc and enjoy this spot with the other families before returning the way we came.

Children can access the water to play, but it is a bit of a muddy slope down to the river so suitable water footwear advised.

There are two picnic tables, but we suggest you bring a blanket as last time we were there, birds nesting above had pooped all over the tables!

Suitable for all ages including pushchairs as the path is flat and even throughout.

No Dogs please

Walk Leader

The Ambling Path is a family-affair. Sally, her husband and daughters aged 7 & 4, explore the local countryside looking for short and easy family-friendly walks to share. They have navigated miles of footpaths looking for play areas, refreshment stops, paddling spots, animals to spy, trees to climb, dens to build and ruins to roam. They provide other families with all the route details they need – from where to park, to whether the pushchair can come too. Needless to say, they have a large and loyal following on social media.
